Yes, cats can contract AIDS, but it is somewhat different to humans. “Immune Deficiency Virus Infection” is also commonly known as “Cat AIDS” (FIV), and is not usually transmitted sexually among cats. Rather, it is usually inherited, or transmitted through injuries, blood or saliva. Therefore, stray cats are more at risk than domestic cats.
Cat AIDS cannot be transmitted to humans, and is actually quite prevalent. As long as the cat that has FIV is taken care of, with a balanced nutrition and diet, it can still live a long life!
