Overview
Cordyceps (Ophiocordyceps sinensis) is a kind of precious traditional herb in China. However, they are not insects nor grass. Instead, they are a kind of fungi namely Cordyceps Sinensis in the family of Clavicipitaceae. They parasitize the larvae of Hepialidae moths and is a rare combination of caterpillar and fungus. They are mainly found in the region of Tibet, Sichuan, Qinghai, Guizhou, Gansu and Yunnan.
Characteristics
Cordyceps are sweet in flavor and neutral in energy and are effective in regulating body functions, nourishing lungs and invigorating kidneys, relieving cough and reducing sputum, preventing cancer and are anti-aging. More importantly, the medicinal property of Cordyceps is gentle.

Cordyceps are rich in active substances including proteins, amino acids, polysaccharides, cordycepin, cordyceps acid, ergosterol, adenosine, superoxide dismutase, vitamin A, B1, B2, E and micronutrients.
